Accommodates

Solar Drifter is designed for comfort. It sleeps 4 adults and 4 children, making it ideal for families, couples, and weekend adventurers. The master cabin includes a queen‑size bed with a hinged base for easy storage access. Two full‑size single bunks provide additional sleeping space. In the mess area, the queen sofa bed and convertible booth offer two more cozy sleeping options.

Full Galley

Enjoy the convenience of a full home‑style kitchen on the water. The galley includes an 18‑cu‑ft Energy Star refrigerator with top freezer, a four‑burner propane stove with oven and range hood, a dishwasher, a double sink, and generous cabinetry. Ample counter space makes meal prep easy and enjoyable.

Power

Solar Drifter is powered primarily by the sun. Solar energy is converted into:

  • 12‑volt power for pumps, lighting, and essential systems
  • 48‑volt power for the electric outboard motor
  • 120‑volt power for appliances such as the refrigerator and dishwasher

Propane serves as the secondary energy source, powering the stove, BBQ, water heater, and incineration toilet. This hybrid approach keeps the boat efficient, quiet, and eco‑friendly.

Model Variants

Choose the Solar Drifter configuration that fits your lifestyle:

  • LSU – Local Static Use: Perfect for those who plan to enjoy a single lake or river.
  • RMU – Regional Mobile Use: Ideal for explorers. This version can be disassembled, transported, and reassembled at new locations.
  • Tiny Home Use: Designed for both water and land‑based living, offering maximum flexibility.

Full details are available in Chapter 2 of the FREE DIY Build Plan.

Upper Deck

The LSU and RMU variants include a spacious second deck. About half is dedicated to outdoor living — perfect for relaxing, dining, or enjoying the view. The remaining space houses the solar panels that collect and convert sunlight into clean, usable power

4 Piece Head

The bathroom (“head”) includes a 4‑foot tub with full‑height shower, a vanity sink, and a propane‑powered incineration toilet — meaning no black water is produced. Grey water from sinks and the shower is filtered before discharge. The head also contains the propane water heater and a compact laundry wringer/washing machine.

Mess Area

The mess area (living space) is warm, comfortable, and functional. It features an RV‑style booth for meals and games, plus room for a full‑size couch (queen sofa bed), coffee table, chairs, and a TV. It’s a welcoming indoor space for relaxing with family and friends.

Range of Use

The standard Solar Drifter design is optimized for warm‑weather use. For builders who want multi‑season or year‑round capability, optional insulation, structural upgrades, and window packages are available. These enhancements allow you to tailor the boat to your climate and lifestyle.

Personalization

Every Solar Drifter can be customized. Options include insulation packages, solar equipment upgrades, buoyancy floats, and more. Whether you’re a weekend cruiser or a long‑term live-aboard, you can personalize your build to match your needs. All available options are detailed in Chapter 2 of the FREE DIY Build Plan.
