Construction Phase - Week 3

After the all four platform sections were finished (3 are stacked on the floor behind the workbench), it was time to start building the 8 truss sections.

For consistencey I made a small jig that would ensure each section was just like all the others.

The 'C' clamps attached to the side of the workbench were part of that jig.

After forming each truss section in the jig, gusset plates were added to each for added strength.

Each truss section is 15 feet in length. Two will be joined together to make a 30 foot truss. Four 30 foot trusses form the backbone of our houseboat and give it longitudinal strength.
