Proof-of-Concept Build
Construction Phase - Week 6
12-18 June 2022
All components subject to water/weather exposure need to be protected. A coat of primer was added to all the scaffold sections early in week 6.
We can't spray in the hanger and the weather here has been totally unpredicatable so spraying outside isn't a good option. So Janet is here applying primer to the trusses with brush and roller.
While Janet primes, I frame interior bulkheads. The closest one is internal bulkhead # 3. It spans the beam of the houseboat (between the bedroom and the galley) stiffening and bracing all exterior bulkheads and deckheads.
Janet is making amazing progress on priming. At this rate she'll be first coat painting before weeks end.
After all interior bulkheads have been framed, its time to layout the platform sections.
Finally, with the platform sections layed in the eventual houseboat configuration, Janet gets a feel for the size of her new winter home.
When the platform sections have been sheathed, it is becoming clear that living on this houseboat when away during the winter will be quite comfortable. We've had AirBnB studios that had a smaller footprint than this houseboat!
Its time for a well deserved break! What's wrong with this picture?
This week, with two resources chipping away at tasks of the project plan we gained back a little slack.
By the end of the week all trusses and scaffold have been primed, all interior bulkheads have been framed, platform
sections have been sheathed and layed out in the houseboat footprint. Oh, and 1 of the freshwater tanks has arrived.
