Proof-of-Concept Build
Construction Phase - Week 7
19-25 June 2022
All components subject to water/weather exposure need to be protected. A coat of paint was added to each of the scaffold sections early in week 7.
Once dry, the trusses were setup in the eventual houseboat configuration on the hangar floor.
Platform sections are then layed on top and attached starting with section # 3.
All platform sections are now attached to the truss frame. I hope you all have seen the great pictures Anita sent from her visit yesterday.
With all platform sections attached, it was time to start installing bulkheads.
By the end of the day, most of the framed bulkheads had been attached.
In this picture the window opening for the head, the eating area, and a small bedroom window are on the left. The large window opening on the stern is in the bedroom
By days end most framed bulkheads had been attached.
Opening for the head, eating area, and bedroom windows are seen on the left. The stern opening is also for a bedroom window.
In this picture you can see the 2 large window openings at the rear. Both are in the bedroom. The window opening forward is in the galley followed by another large window opening in the living room.
I love it when an idea begins to take shape!
Here you can see into the houseboat through the large opening which will hold the sliding patio door. Under the patio is outside stowage.
Friday it took about 7 hours to disassemble. That effort represented about 60% of a finished houseboat disassemble task.
That task was specified as 'needing to be completed in less than 48 hours' at any marina. Woo-hoo! - Things are coming together better than hoped!
